In the past few years, the island of Aphrodite, or simpler, Cyprus, has significantly stepped up their game as well as their results, or at least, the hype among Eurovision fans (with most important of all their second place in 2018 with Eleni Foureira and Fuego).
Despite not even having officially confirmed their participation in Eurovision 2022. they delivered us news of the country’s plans for the 2023 season.
During an interview taken by greek broadcaster MEGA Channel, the CEO of Panik Records, Yiorgos Arsenakos, revealed that the Cypiot artist for Eurovision 2023 will be selected via a talent show.
More thoroughly, he mentioned that the company has been in contact with RIK (national broadcaster of Cyprus) referring to the island’s participation.
They are going to start with the talent show, and the winner of it will be the representative of Cyprus in Eurovision 2023.
The last time Cyprus used the mechanism of national selection was in 2015, when Giannis Karagiannis won the “Eurovision Song Project 2015“.

At Eurovision 2021, PANIK Records had also been involved in the country’s entry. Elena Tsagrinou was selected and she sang an uptempo track called “El Diablo”.
Cyprus came in the 16th place and collected 94 points in total.
