Armenian Singer Hayko Hakobyan Passed Away

The sad news came earlier today – the Armenian singer Hayko passed away at the age of 48.
Hayk “Hayko” Hakobyan was an Armenian singer and songwriter who represented Armenia at Eurovision 2007. He performed the song “Anytime You Need” and ended up 8th in the grand final

The bilingual song was the 2nd song ever that Armenia sent to the contest.

The singer had been in a severe condition for almost a month following Covid-19 sickness.



Hayko has been active since 1996, and released his debut album  “Romances”. In 2003, he gave a live show in the USA.
During his career he was awarded twice as best Armenian singer at the Armenian National Music Awards in the years 2003 and 2006.
Moreover, he was awarded 3 times as the best composer in the years 2007, 2010 and 2011.
In 2017, he was one of the judges in the Armenian selection for Eurovision 2017-Depi Evratesil 2017.

Hayko is one of more than 5,000 people in Armenia who died due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country
