Armenia: Internal Selection for Eurovision 2022

According to the Facebook page Depi Evratesil / Armenian National Selection for Eurovision, Armenia will internally select an artist and a song for Eurovision 2022.

Armenia will return to the contest after one year of absence.
Due to some Armenian broadcaster’s internal difficulties, the country has decided to withdraw from Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

So far, the plans for Eurovision 2022 have remained unknown.
However, it has now been confirmed: Armenia won’t use a national selection for Eurovision 2022.

Who Might Represent Armenia at Eurovision 2022?

The answer is still unknown.
However, we are able to raise 2 possible scenarios:

Athena Manoukian

Athena is an Armenian – Greek singer – songwriter who won “Depi Evratesil 2020″ with the song “Chains On You“.
However, Eurovision 2020 was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Therefore, Athena has never had the chance to represent Armenia at Eurovision.
A possible scenario would be that AMPTV would invite the singer to represent the country in 2022.

Saro Gevorgyan

The Armenian singer Saro Gevorgyan won the “New Wave 2021″ contest and also was one of the backing vocalists for Srbuk at Eurovision 2019.

However, in the following video, we’re able to see the Armenian singer Saro Gevorgyan getting a proposal from Philipp Kirokorov to represent the country at Eurovision.
It seems that Kirokorov would like to compose the song.

In addition, recently Philipp Kirokorov gave an interview to the Russian website Ria, where he claimed that he will be a composer and producer of a Eurovision song for one of the countries.
The optional countries are: Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
