Spain: Luna Ki Withdraws From “Benidorm Fest 2022”

Earlier this morning, we got the news: Luna Ki has decided to give up competing in “Benidorm Fest 2022” – the Spanish selection for Eurovision 2022.

The news has been reported on the RTVE website.

The reason she chose to withdraw was because of the ban on using auto-tune in the live performance. The decision follows EBU regulations which forbid auto-tune.

The singer made an official announcement on her Twitter account,

The singer explained her decision by saying auto-tune is a common tool in the music industry. It has been used by singer Cher since 1998.
She will hold a special press conference tomorrow at 16:30 Spain time.

Luna was meant to perform the song “Voy A Morir” (Eng: I want to die) in the first semi-final of “Benidorm Fest 2022

Following her withdrawal, 13 artists remained in the race.

Semi-Final 1: Wednesday the 26th of January 2022

  1. Luna Ki – Quiero Morir
  1. Varry Brava – Raffaella
  2. Azúcar Moreno – Postureo
  3. Blanca Paloma – Secreto del agua
  4. Unique – Mejores
  5. Tanxugueiras – Terra
  6. Chanel – Slo mo

Semi-Final 2: Thursday the 27th of January 2022

  1. Xeinn – Eco
  2. Marta Sango â€“ Sigues en mi mente
  3. Javiera Mena â€“ Culpa
  4. Gonzalo Hermida – Quién lo diría
  5. Rigoberta Bandini â€“ Ay Mama
  6. Rayden â€“ Calle de la llorería
  7. Sara Deop â€“ Make you say

The grand-final will take place on Saturday, the 29th of January 2022

The results of each show will be determined by: 30% national jury, 20% international jury, 25% public vote, 25% demosgraphic public vote.
