Georgia Announces Selection Process for Eurovision 2023

Georgian broadcaster GPB has just confirmed participation at Eurovision 2023 (which will be held in the UK).
The artist who will represent Georgia at Eurovision 2023 will be selected via the reality show “The Voice of Georgia“.

Applications can be made online via this link , between the 23rd of Ausgust 2022 and 20th of September 2022.

The mechanism for Eurovision 2023 reminds the one used for Eurovision 2020, where the winner of “The Georgian Idol” was chosen to represent the country at Eurovision 2020.
Back then, it was Tornike who won the “The Georgian Idol”.

As for the song selection, we see 2 options:

  1. The song will be selected internally after the winner of the selection is known.
  2. Each one of the finalists will perform an original song in the final. One of these songs will be the Georgian entry for Eurovision 2023

Georgia has struggled to qualify for the final in recent years.
The last time the country qualified for the final was in 2016.

Circus Mircus represented the country at Eurovision 2022 with the song “Lock Me In“.
They finished in the last (18th) place in semi-final 2.
