Portugal: Festival da Canção 2023 song submissions opened for Eurovision Song Contest 2023

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has confirmed that will compete at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 and has opened song submissions for the upcoming Festival da Canção 2023.

The Festival da Canção 2023 has 20 songs in the competition,16 of which will be from the authors from various musical areas invited to compete by RTP, while the remaining four will be selected from the open submissions process.

The open submissions process for songs started today, 2nd September 2022, and will close on 21st October 2022.
Rules are as follows:

  • All citizens of Portuguese nationality or residents in our country can compete for these 4 places, including Portuguese living outside Portugal, as well as citizens of other nationalities residing in Portugal,
  • The reception and choice of these four songs will be carried out through the provision of demos to RTP. These demos must be made available by sending an audio file directly to the email festivaldacancao@rtp.pt and accompanied by various data (specified in the regulation).

This makes 28th country to be confirmed for Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
