Australia Will Select Internally For Eurovision 2023

Based on reports by the Australian website Aussievision, Australia will select both the song and the artist internally.

Australia officially joined the Eurovision family as a participating country in 2015.
Eurovision 2023 will indicate 40 years of broadcasting the contest on Australian TV.
In 2015-2018 and 2021, the act was internally chosen.
While in the years 2019, 2020, and 2022, the song and the artist were chosen through the national selection “Australia Decides“, a live broadcast from the gold coast.

SBS has tried to advance with the negotiations to hold “Australia Decides“.
However, for unknown reasons, things couldn’t be fulfilled.

SBS (Australian broadcaster) reacted:

We are thrilled to confirm that Australia will once again compete in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest next year, with hosts Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey at the helm. However, after three years of celebrating and working with local music artists through our Eurovision selection show, Eurovision – Australia Decides, we’ve decided not to go ahead with the program in 2023.

Over the past few months, we have been exploring ways we can deliver the event to Australian audiences next year, however, a variety of factors have contributed to us coming to this decision.

We are proud to continue to be the home of the Eurovision Song Contest and we look forward to celebrating 40 years of broadcasting Eurovision to all Australians in the coming year.”

Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey, the legendary hosts of “Australia Decides” will still be involved in accessing the contest for Aussie fans.
It is possible that the internally chosen act will be presented to the public by them.
