Romania: 85 Songs Submitted For “Selecția Națională 2023”

The submission window for “Selecția Națională 2023” closed on the 11th of December 2022.
Romanian broadcaster TVR released an official statement regarding the selection process.

According to the statement, 85 entries were submitted for the selection process.
Last year, 94 songs were submitted for the selection process.

Here are the main details:

  1. A jury panel of 6 members will listen to the songs and rank them: Sebastian Ferenț, Laura Coroianu, Bogdan Stratula, John Varbiu, Alin Vaida, and Mihai Predescu.
  2. Each jury will rank the performances in the range of 1-10, without knowing who the writer, producer, and composer are behind the song.
  3. The criteria of the theme of lyrics, sound quality, originality, and melody development will judge the songs
  4. The 12 acts with the highest ranking will qualify for the final.
  5. The final of “Selecția Națională 2023″ will be held on the 11th of February 2023.
  6. The final results will be determined by a 100% public vote.
  7. The 12 finalists will be revealed on the 17th of December 2022.
  8. Among the applications, we can find Romanian and foreign artists.

WRS represented Romania at Eurovision 2022 with the song  “Llámame”.
He finished in 18th place in the final.
