Eurovision 2023 Semi-Final Allocation Draw Will Be Held on January 31st

The EBU has just officially confirmed the date for the Eurovision 2023 semi-final allocation draw: The event will be held on Tuesday, the 31st of January 2023, at 20:00 CET and will be available online on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.

The hosts of the event will be AJ Odudu and Rylan.
Both are familiar faces for Eurovision fans:

Rylan Clark has been part of the UK’s delegation since 2018.
In 2019, he was the spokesperson who conducted the points from the UK’s jury (12 points went to Tamara from North Macedonia).

AJ Odudu was the UK’s spokesperson at the Eurovision 2022 vote

The ceremony will also include the Host City Insignia Exchange.
Turin will give Liverpool the symbol of the host city.
the Mayor of 2022 Host City Turin, Stefano Lo Russo hand over the official keys to the Eurovision Song Contest, known as the “Insignia“, to the Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson.

Another exciting moment: The slogan for Eurovision 2023 will be revealed

Since 2008, when Eurovision started to include 2 semi-finals,
EBU builds country pots for the purpose of reducing political and neighborly voting between countries.

The 31 countries that participate in the semi-finals will be allocated into 5-6 pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by the contestโ€™s official televoting partner Digame.

Each pot will include 5-7 countries. From each pot, half of the countries will be allocated in the first semi-final and the remaining countries will be allocated in the second semi-final.

Moreover, every country will get scheduling for the first/second half of the show it will perform at.

Each country among the 6 automatic qualifiers: France, Spain, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ukraine – will be drawn in one of the semi-finals where they will broadcast and be able to vote in.

AJ Odudu commented:

Itโ€™s so exciting to have the Eurovision Song Contest in the United Kingdom in 2023. New and existing fans are in for an event like no other come May with spectacular live shows on the BBC and a city take over in Liverpool, all with British creativity and Ukrainian culture at its core. I canโ€™t wait to kick things off with the draw later this month

Rylan comemnted:

From being part of the UK delegation since 2018, Eurovision has become such a big part of my life. Iโ€™m so excited to be presenting the handover and allocation draw which symbolises the start of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023; the year in which the United Kingdom hosts Ukraineโ€™s party. Itโ€™s going to be an amazing year for Eurovision. I genuinely canโ€™t wait
