UK: Bonnie Tyler (Eurovision 2013) Dies At the Age of 75

The Welsh singer-songwriter Bonnie Tyler, who represented the country in Eurovision 2013, passed away at the age of 75
On May 6, 2026, Tyler underwent emergency surgery for a perforated intestine in Faro, Portugal, where she resided. Following the procedure, she was placed in an induced coma within the intensive care unit. Her condition became critical when she suffered a cardiac arrest as doctors attempted to wake her, though medical staff successfully resuscitated her. By mid-May, a spokesperson confirmed she was in serious but stable condition, with doctors remaining optimistic about a full recovery. Tyler eventually emerged from the coma on June 15, though she remained severely ill. Sadly, she passed away on July 8 at the age of 75 due to complications from her illness.

Bonnie Tyler (born Gaynor Hopkins; 1951–2026) was a celebrated Welsh singer-songwriter renowned for her distinctive, gravelly voice and powerful pop-rock anthems. Rising to fame in the late 1970s with hits like “It’s a Heartache,” she achieved global superstardom in 1983 with the Jim Steinman-produced power ballad “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” Throughout her prolific career, she released 18 studio albums, represented the United Kingdom in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, and was awarded an MBE in 2022 for her services to music.
