A total of 7 artists are performing 14 songs (2 songs per artist).

The 14 songs in the line up are:

  5. Gala Dragot  t ‘inquiète (English: Don’t Worry) – shortlisted for the final
  6. Gustaph – Because Of You
  7. Gustaph – The Nail
  8. The Starlings – Oceanside
  9. The Starlings – Rollercoaster
  10. Hunter Falls – Home
  11. Loredana – Dream In Colors
  12. Ameerah – Armageddon
  13. Chérine – Mon étoile (English: My Star)
  14. Gala Dragot – Emotion ollie

Each episode focuses on 1-2 artists.
By allocation, determined by the broadcaster, each artist is performing their 2 songs in front of the other artists.
Thereafter, each artist is revealing which of their 2 songs they will perform in the final.

The 5th episode is dedicated to The Starlings (both of their entries) as well as Gustaph (the song “The Nail”).

The Starlings will perform both “Rollercoaster” and “Oceanside” tonight.
Thereafter, we will know which one of their 2 songs will be performed in the final!

In the final, the results will be determined by a combination of a 50% jury and a 50% public vote.

Maltese broadcaster TVM will broadcast the first Quarter Final of “MESC 2023”

Format:

A total of 40 songs will compete in the Maltese selection.
13 of them will participate in the first quarter-final:

8 artists will qualify from quarter-final 1 for the semi-final.
The results will be known only in the 4th quarter-final (after all 40 participants will perform).

About “MESC 2023”

  1. The selection process will include 3 quarter-finals, 1 semi-final, and a final.
  2. 13-14 artists will participate in each quarter-final, and 8 of them will qualify for the semi-final
  3. 24 artists will compete in the semi-finals, and 16 of them will qualify for the final
  4. 16 artists will compete in the final and the winner will represent Malta at Eurovision 2023
  5. The results of each show will be determined by a combination of a national jury and a public vote
  6. The qualifiers from the quarter-finals will be announced at the end of the last quarter-final
  7. The dates of selection are – might be changed later on!
  • Quarter-Final 1 – 13th of January 2023
  • Quarter-Final 2 – 20th of January 2023
  • Quarter-Final 3 – 27th of January 2023
  • Quarter-Final 4 (Results Show) – 4th of February 2023
  • Semi-Final – 9th of February 2023
  • Grand Final – 11th of February 2023
