Eurovision 2023: Semi-Finals Interval Acts Unveiled

Earlier today, the British broadcaster BBC revealed the impressive line-up of special guests who will perform in the semi-finals of Eurovision 2023.
Some of them will perform as the opening acts, and some as interval acts.

The concept is to showcase how all of us are “United By Music“.
Ukraine won Eurovision 2022, however the UK will host Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine (due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war).
In particular, the BBC will deliver the message of solidarity, storytelling and unity.

Semi-Final 1 (Tuesday, 9th of May 2023)

Julia Sanina

Julia Sanina is the lead singer of the Ukrainian band “The Hardkiss”. She is also one of the 4 hosts this year. She will have the honor to open Eurovision 2023 as the opening act of semi-final 1.
Julia Sanina will perform the song “Mayak”

This act will symbolize the way Ukraine and UK are united by music.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora is a 32 year-old pop singer from the UK. She was born in Kosovo to Albanian parents. Rita holds the record for the most Top 10 singles on the Official Charts by a British female artist. Her songs have been streamed for over 10 Billion times!
She will perform as an interval act. Her performance will feature a medley of some of her biggest hits and a premiere of a a new song.

Alyosha & Rebecca Ferguson

Alyosha is an Ukrainian singer. She represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2010 with the song pop-rock ballad “Sweet People” and ended in 7tth place

Rebecca Ferguson is a British soul singer, who was born and raised in Liverpool.
In 2010, Ferguson finished in second place in the seventh series of “The X Factor”.
The 2 singers will perform the song “Ordinary World” (Originally performed by Duran Duran).
Alyosha will tell her story as an Ukrainian refugee, who had to leave her home country.

Semi-Final 2 (Thursday, 11th of May 2023)

Music Unites Generations

This interval act will feature several different artists:

Mariya Yaremchuk

Mariya represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2014 with the song “Tick-Tock”.
She finished in 6th place in the final:

Mariya Yaremchuk will perform a medley of some of the most well-known Ukrainian songs.

The performance will also feature the young singer Zlata Dziunka (who represented Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2022 and finished in 9th place)

Ukrainian rapper OTOY will join the performance as well:

Be Who You Want To Be

The second interval act for semi-final 2 will feature 3 drag performers who will perform medley of well- known songs, with a memorable colorful staging.
The message of their performance will be that the Eurovision Song Contest is a place for everyone, no matter who you are, how you define yourself, what is your race, age nationality or gender.

The BBC will announce the special guests for the grand final in due course!
