A week ago, Icelandic broadcaster RUV confirmed the country will take part in Eurovision 2025.
In another press release, RUV confirmed the selection process for Eurovision 2025 will remain “Söngvakeppnin“.

- The submission window opened today (20th of September 2024) and will close on the 13th of October 2024.
- Representatives of FTT, FÍH, and RÚV will participate in the selection committee.
- 10 artists will be shortlisted to compete in the national selection.
- The aim is to promote a more diverse program.
- The format may undergo some changes, especially regarding the way that the winning song is selected.
- “Söngvakeppnin 2025” will be held in February 2025
Hera Björk represented Iceland at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Scared of Heights”.
She finished in 15th (and last) place in semi-final 1
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
