Eurovision 2025: Iceland Opens Submissions For “Söngvakeppnin 2025”

A week ago, Icelandic broadcaster RUV confirmed the country will take part in Eurovision 2025.
In another press release, RUV confirmed the selection process for Eurovision 2025 will remain “Söngvakeppnin“.

“Söngvakeppnin 2025” Known Details

  1. The submission window opened today (20th of September 2024) and will close on the 13th of October 2024.
  2. Representatives of FTT, FÍH, and RÚV will participate in the selection committee.
  3. 10 artists will be shortlisted to compete in the national selection.
  4. The aim is to promote a more diverse program.
  5. The format may undergo some changes, especially regarding the way that the winning song is selected.
  6. “Söngvakeppnin 2025” will be held in February 2025

Hera Björk represented Iceland at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Scared of Heights”.
She finished in 15th (and last) place in semi-final 1

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
