The Finnish broadcaster YLE has revealed the first details regarding the national selection for Eurovision 2025: “UMK 2025”.
The iconic annual music show will be used again as Eurovision’s selection process.
YLE received a total of 485 entries, which indicates a record number!
“UMK 2025” – Known Details
- “UMK 2025” will be held on Saturday, the 8th of February 2025, in the Nokia Arena in Tampere.
- A professional committee, consisting of music experts and 5 audience representatives listened to the submitted songs. The head of the committee was Tapio Hakanen, YLEX head of music.
- 7 songs were shortlisted to participate in the “UMK 2025” contest.
- The 7 finalists will be revealed on Wednesday, the 8th of January 2025.
- The “UMK 2025” entries will be revealed once per weekday between the 9th and 18th of January 2025.

The UMK show, which has grown into an arena-scale event, exceeded expectations in many respects last year. There are high expectations for this year’s event, both among the UMK production team and certainly among the audience. Tampere proved to be a brilliant UMK host city last year. This year, we will be working even more closely with the city, which is expected to have a very boisterous UMK week in early February

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
