Portugal: “Festival da Canção 2025” Composers Have Been Announced

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has revealed more details regarding “Festival da Canção 2025”, which will be used as the national selection for Eurovision 2025.

The 20 chosen composers are:

  1. A Cantadeira
  2. Beato
  3. Bluay
  4. Bombazine
  5. Emmy Curl
  6. EU.CLIDES
  7. Fernando Daniel
  8. Jéssica Pina
  9. Luca Argel
  10. Marco Rodrigues
  11. Margarida Campelo
  12. Os Napa
  13. Peculiar
  14. Tiago Sampaio
  15. Capital da Bulgária (open submissions)
  16. Diana Vilarinho (open submissions)
  17. Henka (open submissions)
  18. Inês Marques Lucas (open submissions)
  19. JOSH (open submissions)
  20. Xico Gaiato (open submissions)

Some composers will perform their songs, while in other cases other artists will perform those songs.
Among the composers, we can find in the list Fernando Daniel and EU.CLIDES, who have already competed in the festival.

“Festival da Canção 2025” – Main Details

  1. 20 artists will compete in the festival this year. RTP directly invited 14 composers to submit songs (some of them will perform their own songs), and selected 6 additional songs from the open path.
  2. The festival feature 2 semi-finals and a final:
    • Semi-Final 1: Saturday, the 22nd of February 2025
    • Semi-Final 2: Saturday, the 1st of March 2025
    • Final: Saturday, the 8th of March 2025
  3. 10 artists will compete in each semi-final, 6 of them will qualify from each semi-final to the final.
  4. The semi-final results will be determined in 2 rounds:
    • First round – a 50% national jury and a 50% public vote. The 5 songs with highest combined ranking will advance for the final.
    • Second round – will be determined solely by the public vote. 1 additional song will get a ticket for the final.

Iolanda represented Portugal at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Grito”.
She finished in 10th place with 152 points.

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
