It was revealed today that Sanni and Jasmin Beloued will host Finnish national selection UMK 2025.
Who are Sanni and Jasmin Beloued ?
Sanni or Sanni Kurkisuo released her first solo single “Prinsessoja ja astronautteja” in 2013, which was followed by her debut album “Sotke mut” later that year. She released a single in 2015 “2080-luvulla” which became the most-played radio song in Finland of all time, spending 11 weeks at number one on the Finnish airplay charts. With five albums, three Emma awards, and over 300 million streams, Sanni is one of Finland’s most popular artists.
Jasmin Beloued began her career in 2017 at Yle Galaxi, a youth program on Yle. She gained further recognition as the host of Yle’s special Covid-19 program for children. Since 2020, she has been a presenter on Yle Mix, Yle’s children’s news service, and since 2021, she has reported from the annual Independence Day reception.
Sanni commented about her new role as a presenter:
“Hosting is really different from singing and I think this experience will bring me new ideas for performing. I’m sure that this will strengthen me as a performer in general.
For me, UMK means, in particular, celebrating new music and giving new music an opportunity to make it,” says SANNI. “UMK is a wonderful community event where people gather together, both in the arena and in homes. It’s great to be part of this.”
Jasmin commented about her role as a presenter:
“Being part of UMK has been my dream for a long time, and I have had the opportunity to collaborate with the UMK production team in my role as a journalist. That was how I made myself visible to the UMK team, and eventually I received a request for test shoots and got to join the team. This production is full of top professionals, so even though the role is very nerve-racking, I feel very confident. I am also a Eurovision fangirl, so it feels like a great privilege to be in this role and hit the stage in front of the audience in Tampere.”
Jasmin also commented on presenting with Sanni:
“We have a good vibe together, our energy merges and we are both performers and perfectionists in a good way. Also, I’ve been listening to Sanni’s music since day one, so this is a pretty special fan encounter for me!”
Sanni and Jasmin will also present the UMK 2025 artist reveal live from Yle Studios in Helsinki on 8th January 2025, The show will be available to watch worldwide on Yle Areena and will have an English commentary stream provided by Jaakko Oleander-Turja.
- “UMK 2025” will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at the Nokia Arena in Tampere.
- 7 songs were shortlisted to participate in the “UMK 2025” contest.
- The 7 finalists will be revealed on Wednesday, the 8th of January 2025.
- The “UMK 2025” entries will be revealed once per weekday between the 9th and 18th of January 2025.
Finland was represented by Windows95man in the final of Eurovision 2024 with “No Rules!”. They finished in 19th place, with 38 points.
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
