Malta: “MESC 2025” Semi-Finalists Have Been Announced

As in previous years, Malta opts to select its artist and song for Eurovision via the national selection “MESC” (“The Malta Eurovision Song Contest“)

In a special press conference, Daniel and Ylenia revealed the names of 24 artists participating in “MESC 2025”. We could also listen to a 10-second snippet of each song.

“MESC 2025” – The Participants

  1. Alexandra Alden – Magnolia
  2. Kelsay Bellante – 365
  3. Kristy Spiteri – Heaven Sent
  4. Kurt Calleja – Aziz/a
  5. Miriana Conte – Kant
  6. Mark Anthony Bartolo – Hideaway
  7. Nathan Psaila – Concrete
  8. Miguel Bonello – Breaking The Cycle
  9. Matthew Cilia – Control
  10. Dre’ Curmi – Te Amo
  11. Martina Borg – Yo, Listen
  12. Kantera – Lalaratatakeke Lalaratakabum
  13. Justin Shofrid – Still I Rise
  14. The Alchemists – Rubble & Stone
  15. Krista Šujak – Unheard
  16. Kelsy Attard – Love Me Loud
  17. Marie Claire – Wildflower
  18. JVF (Jessika, Victoria Gauci, Fabrizio Faniello) – Festa (No Time For Siesta)
  19. Kurt Anthony Cassar – Miegħek Biss
  20. Raquela Dalli  – Silenced
  21. Stefan Galea – Lablab (Talk Talk)
  22. Adria Twins – Qalb ma’ Qalb

Among them, we could find some former participants in the national selection:

  • Jessika Muscat, part of JVF, represented San Marino in Eurovision 2018.
  • Fabrizio Faniello, part of JVF, has represented Malta in Eurovision 2001 and 2006.
  • Kurt Calleja represented Malta in Eurovision 2012
  • Miriana Conte, Raquela Dalli, Haley Azzopardi, Kelsey Bellante, Mark Anthony Bartolo, Nathan Psaila, Miguel Bonello, Stefan Galea, and Victoria Sciberras have participated in “MESC” in the past.
  • Alexandra Alden and Justine Shorfid participated in “X-Factor Malta”.

“MESC 2025” – Full Details

  1. The submission window closed on the 29th of November 2024.
  2. The professional jury shortlisted 24 songs to compete in the national selection.
  3. The selection will feature 4 phases:
    • “Selection Phase”
    • 2 Semi-Final
    • Final
  4. 24 artists will participate in the 2 semi-finals, 12 in each semi-final. 8 artists will qualify from each semi-final to the final
  5. The results will be based on a combination of jury votes and public votes. These shows will be held in front of an audience.
  6. The semi-finals will be held on the 4th and 6th of February 2025.
  7. The final will be held on the 8th of February 2025.
  8. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 artists in the final.

Sarah Bonnici represented Malta at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Loop”.
She finished last in semi-final 2

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
