Italian outlet Prima Online revealed that San Marino is about to reshape its national selection for Eurovision, beginning the upcoming version in 2025.
San Marino broadcaster RTV is 50% owned by the Italian broadcaster RAI.
Due to financial issues, a new funding program was initiated, focusing on investments, production, and technology.
Based on the new planning, San Marino RTV will receive a budget of approximately 1 Million euros over the course of 3 years.
Part of this plan related to the Eurovision participation, and in particular to the national selection. “Una Voce Per San Marino” will come to an end, paving the path for the “San Marino Song Contest”.
“San Marino Song Contest 2025” – Known Details
- The new selection will have a new logo.
- The format and rules will be changed, aiming to create a wider international appeal.
- The grand final is scheduled to take place on March 8th, 2025. Initially, San Marino was meant to select its Eurovision 2025 entry on February 23rd, 2025.
- Massimo Bonelli will be the artistic director of the selection, while Cristiano D’Alisera will take the production lead.
- The new format will suggestively bring more transparency to the voting.
