Moldova Withdraws From Eurovision 2025

Last Saturday, Moldovan broadcaster TRM held the auditions phase for “Etapa NaÈ›ională 2025”.
Based on the jury choice, 12 artists made it to the final.
The final was meant to be held on the 22nd of February 2025, with the results determined by a 50% public vote and a 50% jury vote.

  1. Royals ST – Zboară-n sus
  2. Nadya Crajevschi – Not A Shadow
  3. Vadim Eleni – Mamă, să fii!
  4. Bacho & CARNIVAL BRAIN – Semafoare
  5. Sasha Bognibov – All-night party
  6. Chris Cross – Eu vin
  7. Predein Cristian – Moldovian Dance
  8. Rina – DorinÈ›ele
  9. Katy Rain – Timpul
  10. Catalina Solomac – Demons
  11. LODOS – Sentimental
  12. Zelorielle – Miracle

However, TRM has surprisingly announced a press conference, which was held today at 10:00 CET.
Sadly, the country has decided to withdraw from Eurovision 2025.
The main reason seems rooted in a decrease in the public interest, as well as in the quality of the submitted songs, as well as economic challenges.

Corneliu Durnescu, The director of TRM said:

The decision was not an easy one, but necessary in the current context. This year’s national selection highlighted certain challenges, including a decrease in public interest and the overall quality of the pieces and artistic performances. This fact generated a negative perception among specialists and the public, underlining the need for a substantial reform in the selection process,

We hope to see Moldova return to the contest in the near future!

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th, and 17th of May 2025
