Latvian broadcaster LSM has confirmed the country will participate in Eurovision 2026.
Latvia will select an artist and a song via “Supernova 2026″
Latvian broadcaster LSM revealed that a total of 124 songs were submitted to the national selection.
This is an increase from last year, when 96 songs were submitted.
Agnese Štrause-Kubliņa, Head of Entertainment and Documentary Content at Latvian Television, points out:
“I’m glad that musicians appreciate “Supernova”. There are more songs than last year, which shows that the desire to bring Latvia’s name to the world, the Eurovision audience in the millions, and the achievements so far have obviously encouraged many to apply. In addition, the variety of genres is very wide: from country music to energetic rock compositions. Viewers will have the opportunity to experience exciting shows. Thank you to everyone for their hard work!”

“Supernova 2026” – Known Details

- The competition will consist of two semi-finals (which may be reduced to one) and a grand final.
- The shows will take place between January and February 2026. The final will be held of February 14th, 2026.
- The selection committee (composed of independent music and entertainment industry experts) will shortlist up to 20 songs.
- The jury will evaluate the songs’ originality, arrangement, message, and compliance with modern market trends. The jury will also relate to vocal abilities and potential to compete in the international competition.
- Up to 10 artists will compete in each semi-final. 11 artists will qualify for the final (including wildcard).
- The results of each show will be based on a combination of jury and public vote.
- Foreign writers/producers/composers are welcome, as long as their contribution is up to 49%.
Tautumeitas represented Latvia in Eurovision 2025
They performed “Bur Man Laimi” and ended in 13th place
Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
