Italy: “Festival di Sanremo 2027” First Details Revealed

Italian broadcaster RAI revealed the first details regarding the traditional “Festival di Sanremo“.

Stefano De Martino will act as the new artistic director and festival host, taking the place of Carlo Conti

RAI announced that the 77th edition of the festival (“Festival di Sanremo 2027“) will take place from February 16th to 20th, 2027.

Based on reports made by the Italian media, we might expect some change to the festival’s format (compared to recent years)
Dagospia reports that the main change relates to the 4th night of the festival.
Usually, the 4th night is dedicated to covers and duets, features special guests, and allows singing in any language.

The new rumored format aims to separate winning “Sanremo” from the right to represent Italy in Eurovision. The 4th night will be dedicated to Eurovision, with artists performing their songs in Eurovision style. Thus, the winner of the 4th night will have the first right to win the Eurovision ticket.
However, the winner of the festival will be the winner of the last night.

The Federation of the Italian Music Industry pushed the changes behind the scenes.
They are also interested in reducing the power of journalists as part of the jury panel.
