Israel: “The Rainbow and the Stars”: How Eurovision Royalty Reclaimed the Coastline at Tel Aviv Pride 2026

On Friday, June 12th, 2026, the traditional pulse of the Middle East’s largest LGBTQ+ celebration roared back to life as the 28th Tel Aviv-Yafo Pride Parade triumphantly reclaimed its historic beachfront format. Following years of scaled-back, deeply solemn, or alternative-format gatherings, the city underwent a full-spectrum transformation.

Tens of thousands of attendees marched, danced, and participated in the parade, crossing Tel Aviv from North to South. The energy culminated at Charles Clore Park in an open-air main stage concert, just where the Eurovision village took place in 2019. But while the beachside breeze and towering rainbow floats provided the canvas, the emotional and sonic spine of the afternoon belonged to a very specific, fiercely loved fraternity: Israel’s Eurovision Song Contest royalty.

For decades, Eurovision has acted as both a global pop megaphone and a cultural sanctuary for Israel’s queer community. At Tel Aviv Pride 2026, that intersection didn’t just provide entertainment but also delivered a masterclass in resilience, survival, and pure, unfiltered pop catharsis.

The Anchors of Pride: Icons of Global Resiliency

Netta Barzilai (ESC 2018 Winner)

When Netta Barzilai took the stage, the atmosphere shifted from standard festival energy to an outright pop revival. It has been eight years since her groundbreaking victory in Lisbon, but her anthem “Toy” remains a permanent, foundational pillar of the global queer canon. Sporting her signature avant-garde style and armed with an arsenal of vocal loops, Netta turned Charles Clore Park into a massive, interactive playground. Her performance served as a vital reminder of what Israeli pop looks like at its most unhinged, joyful, and radically self-accepting.

Especially for Pride, she collaborated with Nibar Znati, releasing the song “ברבור” (Eng: female Swan):

Eden Golan: The Healing Power of the Home Crowd (ESC 2024)

If Netta provided the joy, Eden Golan brought the profound emotional release. Golan’s 2024 journey with “Hurricane” in Malmö was defined as a huge success. Watching her step onto the Tel Aviv Pride stage, entirely enveloped in the unconditional warmth of her home community, felt like a necessary final chapter of healing. Eden performed a medley of her songs, as well as special tribute to Justin Bieber

Yuval Raphael

Fresh off placing second overall and winning the global Eurovision televote last year, she brought a sleek, contemporary pop elegance to the stage.
This time, performing for the time her new song “Papa”, which was one of the contenders to represent Israel in Eurovision 2025:

The New Wave And National Selection Artists

Not only Eurovision representatives performed, but also some of the leading names in the national selection “Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision” over the years.

Vallery Hamati (2nd place, “Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision 2025″)

Shefita (Finalist, “Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision 2019″)

Additional artists who performed were: Gal De Paz (“Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision 2026″), Shira Zluf (“Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision 2026″), Avihu Pinchasov (“Hakochav Haba La’Eurovision 2019″)

The 2026 Tel Aviv Pride parade wasn’t just about looking backward at past musical accolades or looking forward to the next trophy. It was about the now. By stepping onto the promenade and singing together, these artists and their community fulfilled the true spirit of the weekend: they voted with their feet, they spoke through their music, and they refused to let the song stop×¥
It has also shown that Israel is one of the safest countries to celebrate diversity and equality in the Middle East
