Luxembourg Opens Submissions For “Luxembourg Song Contest 2027”

The Luxembourgish broadcaster RTL opened the submission window for the national selection “Luxembourg Song Contest 2027”.
This year, the submission splits into 2 paths, one for artists and one for songs

Artists Submission

  1. Artists can submit their candidacy via this link
  2. Artists must be at least 18 years old on January 15, 2027, and meet at least one of the following three conditions: 
    • Must have Luxembourgish nationality
    • Must have lived in Luxembourg for at least 3 years
    • Must be able to prove that is firmly rooted in the Luxembourg music scene by, for example, regularly performing in Luxembourg at festivals or other events.
  3. The submission window will close on September 20th, 2026.
  4. Artists will be invited to a live audition, and some of them will be shortlisted to the artist-song pairing phase.
  5. The artists’ audition will take place in mid-October 2026.

Songs Submission

  1. The Songs application will be made via this link.
  2. Must be of a maximum duration of three (3) minutes;
  3. be original and not have been commercially released or publicly performed, in full or in part, before 1 September 2026, in accordance with the EBU Rules;
  4. Be performed by a maximum of six (6) people on stage, including dancers and backing singers;
  5. The song must include live vocals and have its lead vocals performed live on stage; recorded backing vocals are permitted only within the limits set by the EBU Rules;
  6. Contain lyrics that are not political, racist, offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or otherwise harmful.
  7. There is no restriction on the language of the Song, which may be performed in any language, including Luxembourgish.
  8. The song submission deadline is October 29th, 2026.
  9. Both people from Luxembourg and abroad are invited to participate

The Luxembourg Song Contest 2027

  1. The selection will be held on January 30th, 2027.
  2. A combination of an international jury and public votes will determine the winner
  3. Based on previous editions, around 7-8 artists will compete in the national selection.
  4. A panel of music and Eurovision experts will make a pre-selection, and the songs that have been selected will then be presented to the artists.
  5. At the end of October/beginning of November, a so-called pairing workshop will analyze which song fits which artist, and vice versa. During this workshop, the artists will receive support from experts, including coaches, musicians, and ESC specialists,
  6. Each artist will either perform a song he/she/they submitted or one of the submitted songs by songwriters.

Eva Marija represented Luxembourg in Eurovision 2026.
She performed “Mother Nature” and didn’t qualify for the final.

Eurovision 2027 will be held in Bulgaria in May 2027
