Austrian broadcaster ORF is proceeding with preparations for Eurovision 2027. Austria will select its act internally.
Peter Schreiber and Cesár Sampson are leading the selection scout, which kicked off with looking for potential Austrian artists.
Peter Schreiber has shared the following post on his Instagram page in the past:
If anyone is interested in representing Austria at the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, send me a message – and please read the song rules on eurovision.com beforehand (of course, feel free to ask me if you still have any questions). Austrian artists are preferred (general applications will also be possible; an official announcement by ORF will follow later).
Austrian and German media, especially ESC Kompakt and Klein Zeitung, report that 11 artists remained in the race for Eurovision 2027.
The next phase will follow the same procedure that has been applied since 2022 (with the exception of 2026):
- The eleven selected acts will perform at a live casting at the ORF Center in Küniglberg. This phase will take place in early November.
- The artists will be evaluated by a jury. In recent years, the jury has consisted of Eurovision fans and media experts. They will evaluate the candidates/
- However, the ORF makes the final decision. Program Director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz has the final say in selecting Austria’s Eurovision entry. The jury’s evaluation forms the basis of her decision.
For comparison, in 2024, only 8 artists made the cut at this stage.
The names of the 11 candidates are not known. However, it seems that at least one of them is a returning artist!
Based on ESC Kompakt, the following 3 artists might be interested in representing Austria in Eurovision 2027:
1. Paenda

The Eurovision 2019 representative has worked intensively in the last year, releasing 8 songs in 2026.
Her Eurovision 2019 entry, “Limits” was a raw, emotional ballad.
But in recent years, she has developed more in the dance, electro-pop scene, having also produced all her songs. Earlier this year, she participated in “Berlin Song Fest“, as well as in the songwriting camp in Basel.
You can listen to one of her latest relases:
2. Cosumus
The singer COSMUS has recently participated in the SWR songwriting campaign, led by the German national broadcaster SWR.
The singer has previously participated in the music talent show “Starmania 21″, where he competed with Teya (Eurovision 2023), JJ (Eurovision 2025), and Philip Piller (Austria Calling 2026).
3. Pia Maria

Pia Maria represented Austria in Eurovision 2002, alongside the DJ LUM!X. They performed “Halo” and didn’t qualify for the final
Last May, Pia Maria participated in the podcast Stage Stories, where she revealed her desire to compete in Eurovision again. The singer criticized her Eurovision 2022 participation, claiming she is more experienced now.
Austria has mostly selected its Eurovision act internally, except in 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2026, when the artist and song were chosen via a national selection.
COSMÓ represented Austria in Eurovision 2026.
They performed the song “Tanzschein” and ended in 24th place in the final
Eurovision 2027 will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria on May 11th, 13th, 15th, 2027
