It’s Party time! Dj Darude Will Raise the Finnish Flag in Tel-Aviv. UMK Song Selection On March 2nd

After a long speculations period, the Finnish broadcast YLE revealed today in a live stream hosted by Krista Siegfrids, Mikko Silvennoinen, and Christoffer Strandberg that Dj Ville Virtanen aka Darude will represent Finland in Eurovision 2019.

Music producer Darude is one of the most famous dj’s in the world especially known for his hit “Sandstorm“. The superstar DJ will be joined on stage with Sebastian Rejman, lead singer and guitarist of The Giant Leap band.

On March 2nd, Darude‘s entry will be chosen through the Finnish national final format UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu). this is the same mechanism chose “Monsters” for Saara Aalto last year.  Darude will be presenting 3 entries and the winning one, favorite by the public and an international jury, will be the track he will play live on the Eurovision stage.  The 3 songs will be released before the show, with 1 song revealed every Friday, February 8, 15 and 22.

The Dj tweet his excitement:  “I am incredibly excited to announce that I will be the 2019 Eurovision representative for Finland! This is such a huge honor for me to represent my home country in this way, and I am SO excited to share this crazy experience with you all!”

Last year the Finnish entry “Monsters” by Saara Aalto ranked 25th in the final scoring 46 points. Will Darude do better in Tel-Aviv? we’ll soon to find out.  Finland will participate in the first half of Semifinal 1 on May 14th.
