Sweden: Is Carola Häggkvist Returns To Melodifestivalen 2020?

The Swedish news media “Aftonbladet” has reported that Carola will enter Melodifestivalen 2020. according to the article, Carola attends to enter the competition with a song she wrote herself and talks about her Christian identity and her strong love for Jesus.

The fact that her song is about her Christianity is not surprising at all. Carola has always talked about her strong spiritual faith and the media covers often her membership in the controversial evangelical church and her marriage with the Norwegian preacher Runar Søgaard.

A few hours ago Carola has reacted the “breaking news” of her comeback but without giving an official approval or denial. the singer admits that she would love to return to the contest equipped with the right song, but at the same time admits that it’s not that easy. Carola uses the stage to thanks all of her fans worldwide and appreciates the support.

Jag önskar jag kunde säga Ja…., vi kör! Men jag tackade ödmjukt nej tack redan i augusti då en av de absolut starkaste kompositörerna inom Esc sammanhang erbjöd mig en fin låt. Och senast nu i oktober då en annan tungviktare inom denna genre önskade, tillsammans men Christer B, att jag sjöng sången som skulle kunnat bli en sann hyllning till hela universums Skapare. Men det krävs lite mer än så för mig.. efter alla år och olika erfarenheter. ( men ändå inte.) För du som känner mig Vet att jag gillar oväntade skeenden i livet. hi hi Men just i detta läge finns det bara andra vinnare än jag. Och just nu är jag faktiskt smartare än så – än att tacka ja. Vem vet i framtiden. Men just nu gick jag inte igång tillräckligt på varken låtarna, mello eller medias circus. Jag bygger något annat på hemma plan från mitt hjärta, på lång sikt. Men med stor tacksamhet för vad Melodifestivalen en gång var för mig, o för många andra. Tack! Och media får gärna fråga den säkraste källan på en gång innan ni basunerar ut på tv att jag är ’klar’ … bara att det kan få ske? Puh! Mina uppgifter till mitt management finns ovan i min bio och är tydligt som korvspad i en korvgryta! I mitt advents program tar jag bla upp varför jag av ren överlevnads instinkt och som beskyddare av mina barn INTE kan ställa upp i varken Mello, Lets Dance el andra liknande program just nu – även om jag både älskar att dansa ( hemma i köket ) eller tävla. Det är ju egentligen helt förfärligt och beklagligt men så länge den nivån på arbetsmoral finns mellan kvällspress och SVT så vore jag mycket naiv om jag ännu en gång skulle tillåta mig vara offer för det. Vet att allt har sin tid och jag är inte långsint heller. Men just nu finns visheten högt upp på listan och då kommer både barnen och en påsk produktion före melodifestivalen. Till och med Gud Fader själv skulle behöva övertyga mig rätt hårt att vara med. Då förstår ni. Då skulle C.B behöva be så intensivt att få med mig innan JESUS hinner göra sin stora comeb

So Who is Carola?

Carola is a Swedish singer and songwriter who represented Sweden 3 times on Eurovision Song Contest.

The first time she represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest was in 1983. her song “Främling” (Eng: stranger) placed the young singer on the 3rd place.

In 1990, Carola has decided to take the Eurovision ride for another round. Carola participated in the Swedish national selection with the song “Mitt i ett äventyr” (Eng: In the middle of an adventure) and came in second place.

Almost made it in Eurovision in 1990 made the singer apply again for the competition the following year. the mysterious semi-business chick and jumpy dance beat of her entry”Fångad av en stormvind” (Caught by a storm wind) lead Carold to the top and she won the 36th Eurovision Song Contest 1991 in Rome. bringing Sweden’s its third victory in the contest placed Carola as one of the best act in the country and her career went ballistic.

As the Swedish national final “Melodifestivalen” became popular with the years, taking part in the competition reflected automatically on how successful he is. In 2006 Carola has decided she is running for the third time and sent “Evighet” to SVT. “Evighet” was the last song to be presented in the 4th heat of Melodifestivalen 2006. Carola and her unforgettable blue dress that was fluttering in the wind was chosen to represent Sweden in Athens. then “Invincible” the English version of the song brought Sweden another successful top5 position on the contest’s scoreboard.

The Last Time Carola participated in the Swedish selection was in 2008 when she joined Andreas Johnson to sing “One Love”. the duo managed to get to the ‘second chance’, but lost there on a battle against Nordman.

Melodifestivalen 2020 – What’s Next?

Like every year, the 28 artists the will participate in Melodifestivalen 2020 will be announced on a special press conference hosted by the Swedish broadcaster SVT during the month of November. the only act confirmed for the show until now is Amanda Aasa that won the 1st ticket to Melodifestivalen 2020 during P4 Nästa 2019 on Sverigesradio.
