The Swedish news media “Aftonbladet” has reported that Carola will enter Melodifestivalen 2020. according to the article, Carola attends to enter the competition with a song she wrote herself and talks about her Christian identity and her strong love for Jesus.
The fact that her song is about her Christianity is not surprising at all. Carola has always talked about her strong spiritual faith and the media covers often her membership in the controversial evangelical church and her marriage with the Norwegian preacher Runar Søgaard.
A few hours ago Carola has reacted the “breaking news” of her comeback but without giving an official approval or denial. the singer admits that she would love to return to the contest equipped with the right song, but at the same time admits that it’s not that easy. Carola uses the stage to thanks all of her fans worldwide and appreciates the support.
So Who is Carola?
Carola is a Swedish singer and songwriter who represented Sweden 3 times on Eurovision Song Contest.
The first time she represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest was in 1983. her song “Främling” (Eng: stranger) placed the young singer on the 3rd place.
In 1990, Carola has decided to take the Eurovision ride for another round. Carola participated in the Swedish national selection with the song “Mitt i ett äventyr” (Eng: In the middle of an adventure) and came in second place.
Almost made it in Eurovision in 1990 made the singer apply again for the competition the following year. the mysterious semi-business chick and jumpy dance beat of her entry”Fångad av en stormvind” (Caught by a storm wind) lead Carold to the top and she won the 36th Eurovision Song Contest 1991 in Rome. bringing Sweden’s its third victory in the contest placed Carola as one of the best act in the country and her career went ballistic.
As the Swedish national final “Melodifestivalen” became popular with the years, taking part in the competition reflected automatically on how successful he is. In 2006 Carola has decided she is running for the third time and sent “Evighet” to SVT. “Evighet” was the last song to be presented in the 4th heat of Melodifestivalen 2006. Like every year, the 28 artists the will participate in Melodifestivalen 2020 will be announced on a special press conference hosted by the Swedish broadcaster SVT during the month of November. the only act confirmed for the show until now is Amanda Aasa that won the 1st ticket to Melodifestivalen 2020 during P4 Nästa 2019 on Sverigesradio.
