Last Tuesday,  the Armenian broadcaster revealed the participants of “Depi Evratesil 2020″ (The Armenian selection for Eurovision 2020).
12 artists will take part in the national final what will be held on the 15th of February 2020. The songs will be available next week

Last Tuesday, The Belarussian broadcaster BTRC has chosen the 12 finalists of the national selection among 49 songs that had been shortlisted before.

Hooverphonic will release their song for Eurovision on Saturday the 29th of  February 2020.

CZECH REPUBLIC

The Czech Republic will hold a special live stream on Monday the 3rd of February 2020 where the winner of the national selection will be announced. The identity of the winner will be determined by a combination of 50% international public voting and 50% international jury voting (former Eurovision representatives).
The public voting is still open on the Eurovision app.

Denmark has revealed the 10 songs that will compete in the national selection for Eurovision 2020: “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020“. The final will be held on Saturday, the 7th of Match 2020.
5 among the songs were per-qualified and the other 5 qualified for the final via  “P4 Sjælland” competition.

Georgian media reports that the country has already chosen the act for Eurovision 2020.
Tornike Kipiani will perform the song “Take Me As I Am“.
The song will an electro-rock with dubstep elements. Tornike will have 3 backing vocalists on stage. The song was written and composed by Tornike Kipiani.
The song will be released in February 2020.

IRELAND

ThisIsPopBaby will be responsible for Ireland staging in Eurovision 2020.
Philly McMahon (The head of ThisIsPopBaby) has leaked that Ireland will be represented by a song associated with LGBT issues.

ISRAELB

At the moment, 8 candidates left in the race for representing Israel In Eurovision 2020:

Until Monday, 4 candidates among them will be eliminated.
The competition will include 2 semi-finals. From each semi-final, 2 candidates will qualify for the final and the other two will be eliminated.

In the first semi-final, the 4 competing artists will be
Eden Alena, Ohad Shragai, Lali Lokishkin, and Ela Lee Lahav. They will compete on Saturday the 1st of February 2020.

In the second semi-final, the 4 competing artists will be
Moran Aharoni, Or Amrami Brokman, Raviv Kaner, and Gaya Shaki. They will compete on Saturday the 2nd of February 2020.


The grand final will be held on Tuesday the 4th of February 2020.
4 candidates will face each other in 2 duels. The winner of every duel will qualify for the super final. Another spot in the super final will be given as a wild card from the jury to one of the losers of the 2 duels.

At the end of the night, the winner will be announced as the representative of Israel in Eurovision 2020.

On Tuesday the 3rd of March 2020, Israel Broadcaster Kan will hold a special national selection, where the winner of “Hakochav Haba Le’Eurovision” will be performing 4 songs. One of them will be the act of Israel for Eurovision 2020.
The decision will be made as a combination of 3 components:
professional jury = 65%
public voting = 30%
local jury areas = 5%

 

ITALY

“Sanremo” festival will be broadcasted this week. It will include 5 shows, starting on Tuesday the 4th of February 2020 and ending on Saturday the 8th of February 2020.
24 artists will compete for representing Italy in Eurovision 2020 :

Here are the main rules of the format in each show:

First Show – 4th of February 2020

16 songs will compete on the first show. 12 of them are 12 of the big artists in which the voting will be based on a demographically selected people’s jury, however, none of them will be eliminated.  Another 4 songs will be among the “Sanremo Giovani” (Newcomers artists). A demographically selected people’s jury will also vote for those 4 songs and only the top two of them will qualify to the Newcomers semi-final.

 

Second Show – 5th of February 2020

16 songs will compete on the first show. 12 of them are another 12 big artists in which the voting will be based on a demographically selected people’s jury, however, none of them will be eliminated.  Another 4 songs will be among the “Sanremo Giovani” (Newcomers artists). A demographically selected people’s jury will also vote for those 4 songs and only the top two of them will qualify to the Newcomers semi-final.

 

Third Show – 6th of February 2020

All of the 24 artists will compete and perform a classic song from previous editions of the “Sanremo Festival“. The artists will perform together with guest artists, not necessarily Italian. The voting will be based on the Sanremo orchestra’s musicians and the backing vocalists. None of the 20 artists will be eliminated. The 4 Newcomers qualifiers from the two previous shows will perform their songs. The voting for them will be baes on 34% televoting, 33% press jury and 33% demographically selected people’s jury. Only 2 of them will qualify for the Newcomers Final.

Forth Show – 7th of February 2020

All of the 24 artists will compete and perform their entries. The voting for them will be based on 100% jury press however, none of them will be eliminated. The two Newcomers finalists will compete and perform their songs again. The voting for them will be baes on 34% televoting, 33% press jury and 33% demographically selected people’s jury. At the end of the show, the winner of the “Newcomers” category will be decided.

Fifth show – 8th of February 2020

The 24 big artists will participate and perform their songs. Only 3 of them will advance to the super final level. The top three will be determined by accumulated voting from the previous shows and voting on that show which will be determined by 34% televoting, 33% press jury and 33% demographically selected people’s jury. In the super final level, the voting will be again based on 34% televoting, 33% press jury and 33% demographically selected people’s jury.

TRM will hold a second round of auditions today at 13:00 C.E.T (15:00 at Moldova).
A professional jury will evaluate the acts by the following criteria: melodic line, the originality of the song, the vocal performance, and the actual interpretation.

ROMANIAB

Romania will select an artist for Eurovision 2020 internally.  However, there will be a national final where the selected artist will perform 5 songs. The selected song will be the Romanian act for Eurovision 2020.
The announcement about the selected artist will be on Saturday the 29th of February 2020.
The national final will be broadcasted on Sunday the 1st of March 2020.

Meanwhile, the Romanian media suggest that one of the shortlisted artists is the singer  Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu (as known as Inna). She is 33 years old singer-songwriter of the genre Pop and Electro Dance. So Far, the singer has released 6 studio albums.
She is active since 2008.

RUSSIA

Dima Bilan who represented the country in Eurovision 2006 (2nd place in the final) and Eurovision 2008 (winner) may come back for a third attempt.
The singer has canceled planned concerts in February and March, saying that he will be a part of an international project. In recent interviews, the singer mentioned he would like to represent Russia in Eurovision once again.

Tonight, the first semi-final of “Melodifestivalen 2020” will be broadcasted.
7 artists will compete for 2 spots in the final.

Last Tuesday, the semi-finals allocation drew was held.
The 35 semi-finalists were allocated into 2 semi-finals. Moreover, each country has been allocated into one of the 2 halves of the show where it will perform in.
