“Melodifestivalen 2021” – What can we expect?

The Swedish national selection “Melodifestivalen” is well known as one of the favorites national selections. Traditionally, it includes 6 shows which each of them is being held in a different city in Sweden.
However, the corona virus has its implications.
The Swedish government has decided to forbid gathering that includes more than 50 people. Therefore, it will be almost impossible to hold the “Melodifestivalen” without the regular huge audiences.


Following the Swedish newspaper “Aftonbladet” we can learn the the Swedish broadcaster SVT has other plans. SVT is considering to update the format so all the 6 shows will be filmed in one venue is Stockholm.


In addition, the broadcaster is concerned about the option that the pandemic will be spread in a huge gathering. We can also mention that people will have economic difficulties in purchasing tickets for the shows.

What About Optional Participants?

One of the participants in The radio competition “P4 Nästa 2020” will get a wild card for “Melodifestivalen 2021“. The final will be held on Tuesday the 25th of August 2020.

Optional Former Participants

According to the Swedish website “Scandipop” the following former “Melodifestivalen” participants will probably submit an entry for “Melodifestivalen 2021″:

Dotter


Dotter competed as a singer in “Melodifestivalen 2018” with the song “Cry” (she didn’t qualify for the final)


and “Melodifestivalen 2020” with the song “Bulletproof” (she ended as the runner- up, with only 1 point behind the winning act)



Faith Kakembo

Faith is a Swedish singer of an Ugandan decent, she has participated in “Melodifestivalen 2020” with the song “Crying Rivers” and didn’t qualify for the final.

Klara Hammarström

The singer participated in “Melodifestivalen 2020″ with the song “Nobody” and didn’t qualify for the final:

Liamoo

The singer was the winner of the 12th season of “Swedish Idol“. He has participated in “Melodifestivalen” in two occasions:
In 2018, as a solo artist with the song “Last Breath“, he reached the 6th place in the final:

In 2019, a duet with the singer Hanna Ferm – “Hold You“. They finished in the 3rd place in the final:
