Malta Has Chosen! It’s Emma Muscat with the song ”Out of Sight” to Eurovision 2022

“What A Feeling!” Tonight its was all about the central Mediterranean country Malta!

Early Rounds:

At the beginning of January, the Maltese broadcaster TVM revealed that MESC national final is back and its winner will be crowned as the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 representative. With a new logo and a branded slogan “What A Feeling” all the 22 acts participating songs were released all together on January 17, 2022, following a lyric video each.

During a Two nights show (February 17-18, 2022) the acts have performed live on stage and 17 out of the 22 have qualified (16 direct qualifiers + 1 wildcard).

The 5 eliminated acts were:

  • Francesca Sciberras – Rise
  • Derrick Schembri – II
  • Jessica Grech – Aphrodisiac
  • Rachel Lowell – White Doves
  • Malcolm Pisani – We Came for Love

The Final:

Tonight, the 16 finalists have conquered the stage with live performances. joining them as the 17th act will be a second chance wildcard chosen by a televote among the semi-final non-qualifiers. Therefore our running order for tonight was:

  1. Baklava Ft Nicole – Electric Indigo
  2. Norbert Bondin – How special you are
  3. Matt BLXCK – Come Around
  4. GIADA (Jade Vella) – REVELACIÓN
  5. Jessica Muscat – Kaleidoscope [wildcard winner]
  6. Raquel Galdes Briffa – Over You
  7. Nicole Hammett – A Lover’s Heart
  8. Miriana Conte – Look what you’ve done now
  9. Nicole Azzopardi – Into The Fire
  10. Sarah Bonnici – Heaven
  11. Enya Magri – Shame
  12. Denise Mercieca – Boy
  13. Emma Muscat – Out Of Sight
  14. Janice Mangion – Army
  15. Mark Anthony Bartolo – Serenity
  16. Aidan Cassar – Ritmu
  17. Richard Micallef – Hey Little

Hosting the show tonight live from Malta’s Fairs and Conventions Centre were Stephanie Spiteri & Quiton Scerri. Following the performances, the show organizers delivered the Eurovision fans some magical moments with Eurovision Legends such as Kurt Calleja (2012), Paul Giordinaina and Georgina (1991), Mike Spiteri (1995), Morena (2008), Ira Losco (2002 and 2016), Chiara (1998 and 2005), Claudia Faniello (2017) and a special tribute to 1994 representative Christopher Scicluna that passed away earlier this week.

The Results:

After all, the acts have been performed and the tension in the air is well felt, it is now the time for the results to be revealed

Therefore, Emma Muscat will represent Malta at Eurovision 2022 with the song “Out Of Sight“.

At Eurovision:

Malta will participate in the First half of semi-final 2 of Eurovision 2022 to be aired on May 12, 2022. If in case they will qualify, they will perform again on the show’s grand final on May 14, 2022.
