Sad news coming from Israel, as one half of the duo who represented the country at Eurovision 1989, passed away.
Galit Burg was killed in a fatal car accident. Her car crashed into a truck, leaving her with no chance of surviving the accident.

Gili Netanel and Galit won the Israeli national selection for Eurovision 1989 which was held in Switzerland.

They performed the song “Derech Ha’melech” (דרך המלך) which translted to “The King’s Road“
They ended up in 12th place in the final, receiving points from 11 countries.
Back then, Gili was 12 years old, while Galit was 21 years old and supported him on the stage with an additional 2 backing singers.
In 1994, she released a rock album in Israel that didn’t manage to succeed.
Later on, she was the lead singer of the Tremp band
In 1995, Galit married the guitarist of the band and they relocated to the US.
In 1997, she performed under the stage name Galecia and released the dance hit “You Are The One”. The song gained wonderful popularity in Europe.
Galit divorced, and several years later, Galit returned to Israel and got married for the 2nd time.
9 years ago, she participated in “X Factor Israel”, but didn’t qualify for the final.
She left 2 children behind her, who live in the USA.
In recent years, Galit has become religious and mainly performed in front of women.
Galit will always remain in our hearts.
