Portugal continues tonight the journey to Eurovision2023 with the second semi-final of Festival da Canção 2023

The 57th edition of Festival da Canção begun with 20 songs. Tonight’ the second group of 10 took the stage on a show hosted by Sónia Araújo and Jorge Gabrie

  2. The Happy Mess – O Impossível
  3. Teresinha Landeiro – Enquanto é tempo
  4. Bandua – Bandeiras 
  5. Bárbara Tinoco – Goodnight
  6. INÊS APENAS – Fim do Mundo
  7. Ivandro – Povo
  8. DAPUNKSPORTIF – World Needs Therapy
  9. Lara Li – Funâmbula
  10. Voodoo Marmalade – Tormento

Results:

Six acts will move on for the grand final of Festival da Canção 2023 that will be decided through a Two round voting

  • Round 1 – based on a 50% public vote, and a 50% national jury vote. The top 5 artists will advance for the final.
  • Round 2 – 5 remaining artists will fight for 1 additional spot in the final. The results will be determined by the public vote only

The semi-final jury will be:

  • Maro (Portugal Eurovision 2022)
  • Neev (“Festival da Canção 2021“)
  • Marcia (“Festival da Canção 2017“)
  • Alex D’Alva Teixeira (“Festival da Canção 2019“)
  • Carlos Mendes (“Festival da Canção” 1968+1972)
  • Pedro Ribeiro (Director of Radio)
  • Sara Coreeia (Fado Singer)

Round 1

The 5 acts moving on for the grand final are:

  1. Ivandro – Povo
  2. Edmundo Inácio – A Festa
  3. Bárbara Tinoco – Goodnight
  4. Voodoo Marmalade – Tormento
  5. INÊS APENAS – Fim do Mundo

Round 2

The public alone now decides for the sixth and last ticket to the final and it is DAPUNKSPORTIF – World Needs Therapy.

Unfortunately, this means that we are now saying goodbye to:

  • The Happy Mess – O Impossível
  • Teresinha Landeiro – Enquanto é tempo
  • Bandua – Bandeiras 
  • Lara Li – Funâmbula

This means that we now know the complete lineup for the grand final of Festival da Canção 2023. The 13 finalists (in random order) are:

Festival da Canção 2023 Calendar

Festival da Canção 2023” grand final will take place on Saturday 11th of March 2023 and will be hosted by Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim. This will also be the date when the Portuguese artist and song for Liverpool will be known to all.

  • Festival da Canção 2023 – SF1 (February 25, 2023)
  • Festival da Canção 2023 – SF2 (March 4, 2023)
  • Festival da Canção 2023 – Final (March 11, 2023)

Portugal will compete in the first half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2023.
Last year in Turin, the festival winner MARO was very successful at Eurovision as well.
Her emotional ballad “Saudade, saudade” honored Portugal with another Top10 in the contest when she collected 207 points and ranked 9th on the final scoreboard.
