Denmark: Submissions For “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2024” Opened

Denmark has confirmed its Eurovision 2024 participation shortly after the final of Eurovision 2023.
Earlier today, Danish broadcaster DR confirmed “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2024” as the national selection for Eurovision 2024.

“Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2024” – Known Details

  1. The submission window opened today (31st of August 2023) and will close on the 27th of October 2023.
  2. Submissions will be made online via the DR website
  3. 8 songs will be shortlisted to participated in the televised show.
  4. A professional jury will listen to the submitted song. Some songs will be sent, due to a direct approach of the Danish broadcaster to Danish musicians.
  5. Either the composer, lyricist or performing artist must be a Danish citizen or have a similarly strong connection to Denmark. This includes Danes living in the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
  6. Composers and lyricists can submit several entries.
  7. There’s no language restriction. However, DR might be involved in choosing the final language for the winning entry.
  8. At Eurovision the Danish song must performed as singback, all vocals must be live (no pre-recorded vocals)
  9. Each participant must be at least 16 years old by April 2024.
  10. No more than 6 people will be allowed on stage.
  11. The maximal song duration is 3 minutes.
  12. Traditionally, “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix” is held in late February – Beginning of March.
  13. DR will release the shortlisted song in a batch.


Reiley represented Denmark at Eurovision 2023.
They performed the song “Breaking My Heart” and ended up in 14th place in the second semi-final with a total of 6 points.

So far, the list of countries that have confirmed participation in Eurovision 2024: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Israel, Moldova, Estonia, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Serbia, Switzerland, the UK, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Portugal, San Marino, Belgium, and Albania

Eurovision 2024 will be held in Malmö, Sweden.
The semi-final will be held on the 7th and 9th of May 2024, and the grand final will be held on the 11h of May 2024
