As always, Sweden will hold “Melodifestivalen” as the national final, to select both the artist and the song for Eurovision.
Swedish outlets Aftonbladet and Expressen revealed the names of artists who are likely to participate in “Melodifestivalen 2025″.
As a disclaimer, we will once again clarify that these are rumors, and not an official release

“Melodifestivalen 2025” Rumored Artists (New Names)
#1. Albin Johnsén

Albin Johnsén is likely to compete in “Melodifestivalen” for the 3rd time.
His first attempt was in 2016 with the song “RIK” together with Mattias
His second participation was listen in 2020 with the song “Livet börjar nu”
Over the years, he has also contributed as a song writer (with the recent entry “Take My Breath Away” by Kim in 2024).
This time, he is reportedly to return with an uplifting song in Swedish, feature some carnival influences.
#2. Nomi Bontegard
Nomi is a 27 year-old emerging singer.
She is signed to the record company Freebird, where Maria Molin Ljunggren (previously worked with Cornelia Jakobs, Anna Bergendahl, Robin Bengtsson, Clara Klingenström,
and Nanne Grönvall).
Maria is married to Bobby Ljunggren, who has written several “Melodifestivalen” entries (including Sweden Eurovision entries in 1995 and 1998).

#3. Maria Rolf, Maria Persson and Sandra Estberg
One of the Karin Gunnarsson‘s (Melodifestivalen producer) aims is to bring more dance female sound to the competition.
Apparently this vision concludes into establishing a dance female trio to compete in the “Melodifestivalen” this year: Maria Rolf, Maria Persson and Sandra Estberg will join forces with a dance song written by Mikael Karlsson (who wrote Arvingarna‘s entry in “Melodiestivalen 2019” and Casanovas entry for “Melodiestivalen 2023”).
Outside of the “Melodiestivalen” bubble, each of these women perform in another band:
Maria Rolf is a member of Titanix, Maria Persson is a member of Blender, while Sandra Estberg is a member of Martinez.
#4. Linnea Henriksson
Linnea Henriksson was one of the “Melodiestivalen 2020″ hosts
The 37 year-old singer-songwriter debuted in Swedish Idol in 2010, and so far has released 4 albums.
In 2022, she should have been Sweden commentator in Eurovision 2022, but couldn’t make it due to Covid.

#5. Ella Tiritiello
Ella Tiritiello is a 18 year-old singer and actress.
Most recently, she was seen in the role of Marie Fredriksson in the film “Summer Time”.

According to Aftonbladet, she will make her debut in “Melodifestivalen” with a Swedish ballad.
#6. Erik Segerstedt
Erik is a 41 year-old Swedish singer. He has already participated in “Melodifestivalen” twice, as part of group.
In 2009, he performed the song “Baby Goodbye” together with Danny Saucedo and Mattias Andréasson. They finished 3rd.
In 2012, he collaborated with Tone Damli on the song “Hello Goodbye“.

#7. Fredrik Lundman
Fredrik Lundman (known as “The Swedish cowboy“) is a 32 year-old Swedish country singer.
In 2021, he competed in the “Swedish Idol”.

#8. Victoria Silvstedt
Victoria Silvstedt is a 50 year-old model and TV personality.
She has hosted both the French and Italian versions of the game show “Wheel of Fortune“.
During the 1990s and the 2000’s, she has a short affair with the music scene.
In 2021, she participated in the Swedish version of “The Masked singer“.

“Melodifestivalen 2025” – Known Details

- The professional committee shortlisted 30 songs to compete in the live shows. Some of them will be chosen from the applications, while others from artists who have received invitations from SVT.
- The selection will feature 5 semi-final and a grand final:
- Semi-Final 1: Saturday 1st of February 2025, Luleå (Coop Norrbotten Arena)
- Semi-Final 2: Saturday 8th of February 2025, Gothenburg (Scandinavium)
- Semi-Final 3: Saturday 15th of February 2025, Västerås (Västerås Arena)
- Semi-Final 4: Saturday 22nd of February 2025, Malmö (Malmö Arena)
- Semi-Final 5: Saturday 1st of March 2025, Jönköping (Husqvarna Garden)
- Final: Saturday 8th of March 2025, Stockholm (Strawberry Arena)
- 6 artists will take part in each semi-final. The top 2 will qualify for the final.
- Unlike previous editions, the songs will be released one day before each semi-final (and not just snippets!)
- The artists who will finish in the 4th, 5th and 6th place (in each semi-final) will be eliminated.
- At the end of the 5th semi-final,
- The highest scoring 3rd-place song (out of possible 5) will get a ticket to the final
- The remaining 4 artists will face additional voting rounds. The winner will qualify for the final.
- The results of the semi-finals will be determined by a public vote
- 12 artists will make it to the final, where the results will be based on a 50% public vote and 50% international jury vote.
Marcus & Martinus represented Sweden at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Unforgettable”.
They finished in 9th place with 174 points.
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
