Following the close of the submission window, Finnish broadcaster YLE revealed more details about the national selection for Eurovision 2026 (“UMK 2026”).
A record number of 491 songs were submitted to “UMK 2026“, just 6 more compared to “UMK 2025″.
The professional committee listened to the songs and shortlisted 7 of them to participate in the show.
In addition to the professional jury, 5 audience juries contributed to the selections, bringing together a diverse group of representatives from different fields. The jury reform launched last year proved successful and was continued this year as well.
“UMK 2026” – Known Details

- “UMK 2026” will be held on February 28th, 2026, in Nokia Arena in Tampere.
- A combination of an international jury and public vote will select the “UMK 2026” winner. Based on previous years, the ratio is expected to be 75% public and 25% jury vote.
- There are no restrictions on languages.
- The 7 finalists will be revealed on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, during a TV show.
- The 7 songs will be revealed at midnight between January 15th and 23rd, 2026 (not during the weekend).
- The tickets will be available starting October 2nd, 2026, via lippu.fi/umk.

“UMK 2026” Line-up
While we still have to wait for the official line-up, Tapio Hakanen, the chairman of UMK’s professional jury, revealed details regarding the selected acts:
- A charismatic performer making their debut at UMK,
- An artist representing today’s most current sound,
- An internationally sought-after crowd-pleaser,
- A pioneer in their own genre,
- A charismatic duo of two unique voices
- A dramatic pop piece from a singer with a stunning voice,
- A captivating ballad from an artist radiating international appeal.
Erika Wikman represented Finland in Eurovision 2025
She performed “Ich Komme” and ended in 11th place
Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
