Sweden: “Melodifestivalen 2026” Potential Participants (Part 2)

After closing the submission window for “Melodifestivalen 2026″, Swedish broadcaster SVT announced that 3,888 songs were submitted to the selection process for Eurovision 2026.

“Melodifestivalen 2026” – Rumored Artists

Based on the Swedish media, and especially Expressen and Aftonbladet, we can reveal some of the leading names that will reportedly participate in “Melodifestivalen 2026″.
We would like to highlight that SVT hasn’t confirmed any names officially.

#1. Sanna Nielsen

Sanna Nielsen is a veteran of “Melodifestivalen“, with seven participations in her record: 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2014.
The established singer and TV host will try to represent the country in Eurovision 2026.
In 2014, she won “Melodifestivalen” and went on to end 3rd in Eurovision 2014 with “Undo”.

In addition, a special tribute to her songs was an interval act in “Melodifestivalen 2025”:

#2. Robin Bengtsson 

Robin Bengtsson represented Sweden in Eurovision 2017 with “I Can’t Go On” and finished in 5th place. According to the Swedish media, he will compete in “Melodifestivalen 2026“.
The singer has competed 4 times in “Melodifestivalen” in 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021.

#3. Arwin Ismail

The 17-year-old singer is likely to participate in “Melodifestivalen 2026″.
His first participation was in 2025 with “This Dream of Mine”, and he was eliminated in the “Second Chance”.

#4. Emilia Pantic 

Emilia Pantic is a 25-year-old Swedish singer.
She will probably compete in “Melodifestivalen” for the first time in 2026.
She debuted in the music industry in 2022 with the single “Roadkill”.
A month ago, she released her new song “Han vill ha dig”.

#5. Korslagda

The Swedish rock band Korslagda will probably join the “Melodifestivalen 2026” line-up.
Last September, the band removed the word “kukar” from their name, which might hint at their desire to participate in a commercial TV show.
The band was formed in 2019, and released 2 albums (in 2023 and 2025).

#6. Felix Manu

Another potential debut is Felix Manu, the 24-year-old.
Felix is in the first steps in the music industry, and usually shares his singing videos on social media.

“Melodifestivalen 2026” – Known Details

  1. The competition will consist of 6 shows: 5 semi-finals and a grand final.
  2. 30 acts will compete in the semi-final, 12 of them will qualify for the final.
  3. The dates and host cities will be as follows:
    • Semi-Final 1: January 31st, 2026 (Linköping)
    • Semi-Final 2: February 7th, 2026 (Göteborg)
    • Semi-Final 3: February 14th, 2026 (Kristianstad)
    • Semi-Final 4: February 21st, 2026 (Malmö)
    • Semi-Final 5: February 28th, 2026 (Sundsvall)
    • Final: March 7th, 2026 (Stockholm)
  4. 3,888 songs were submitted to “Melodifestivalen 2026
  5. The selected jury will shortlist the submitted songs. The panel will consist of the “Melodifestivalen” main board members, among them Karin Gunnarsson (“Melodifestivalen” producer).
  6. There aren’t any restrictions regarding the language of the songs.
  7. At least 30% of the chosen acts will be performed in Swedish.
  8. At least 50% of the chosen songs must feature female writers/composers.

KAJ represented Sweden in Eurovision 2025
They performed “Bara Bada Bastu” and ended in 4th place

Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
