For a second year in a row, Finland will use “UMK” with multiple artists as the mechanism for selecting an artist and a song for Eurovision 2021 (in contrast to 2018-2019 when the artists were internally selected).
Last year, it was Aksel Kankaanranta with the song “Looking Back” to win the national final “UMK 2020″

In 2021, it will be the 10th edition of the wonderful national selection “UMK“. To celebrate it, YLE decided asking a special design for the winner’s tropy.
The chosen trophy for the winner of “UMK 2021” was designed by Minna Viitalähtä:

The Finnish broadcaster YLE have received 278 songs this year.
UMK professional jury led by Yle‘s music manager Tapio Hakanen, chose the 7 songs that will be included in the line-up of “UMK 2021”

The 7 lucky artists will be revealed on Tuesday the 19th of January 2021.
The grand final of “UMK 2021” (and actually the only show of the national selction) will be held on the 20th of February 2021.
We can assume that the results of the show will be determined by 50% public voting and 50% jury voting.

Tapio Hakanen was interviewed by YLE website and told them the following:
1. The level of the submitted songs was the highest among the last years.
2. A large number of Finland’s most talented and successful songwriters and producers were involved.
3. Among the applicants were several Eurovision representatives from past years, award-winning end stars at the Emma Gala.
4.The amount of competing artists has been increased from 6 (last year) to 7 (in 2021):

Who will be included in the list of artists for “UMK 2021″?
Will any of the former Finish Eurovision artists will compete in the national final?
