Audience

There is still no certainty about how many people will be able to present in the arena on each show.
we would like to remind that 9 shoes will be held: live show, family rehearsals show, jury rehearsals show. At the moment, the upper bound is about 3,500 people at the arena.
However, a final decision will be made on the 28th of April.
Currently, the number of Covid-19 cases increased in The Netherlands

Due to the COVID-19 measures, events can only be organized with strong limitations. This has had a major impact on the events sector. For this reason Fieldlab Events has been created by the events sector in collaboration with the Dutch government
So far, Fieldlab Events has been responsible for 9 testing events and checking if they caused an increase of spreading the virus. Those events were successful.
According to the Dutch government, Fieldlab Events are valid only if the number of people in intensive care units is no more than 900. Lately, it has almost reached 850

Eurovision Village

The traditional Eurovision Village will be changed as well, following the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year it will be held online, with no audience. It will suggest the viewers a virtual 3D experience.

Stand-in Rehearsals

Stand-in rehearsals will start this year on the 29th of April. In that kind of rehearsals, local singers and dancers will take part. The goal is to check that the concept of staging for each delegation can be fulfilled. Special focus will be given on camera angles, sound, lighting and more.
The delegations will start their official rehearsals on the 8th of May.

Delegations and Backup Recordings

The Netherlands closed its entrance gates for people outer European Union.
However, a few exceptions can be given for the sake of music, sport, culture and more.
In particular, the Dutch government allowed exceptions for Eurovision participants.
In order to ensure the existence of Eurovision 2021, each country was obligated to send a live-on-tape version of their song. This will be used as a backup in case specific delegations won’t be able to travel to Rotterdam in May 2021.
However, each delegation has the right to prevent arriving in the Netherlands if they have justification based on Covid-19 situation. At the moment, we already know that Australia will participate remotely. This means that Australia will use the back-up recordings that were sent to EBU in March.
