Earlier tonight, Iceland held its national final for Eurovision 2022 – “Söngvakeppnin 2022“.
Icelandic selection for Eurovision 2022 started 2 weeks ago, with 10 semi-finalists.
2 of them qualified from each semi-final, and 5th artist (Amososis) received a wild-card from the jury.
The grand final hosts were Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir

5 talented artists made it to the final. They performed in the following running order:





- Katla – Þaðan Af (Icelandic Version)
- Amarosis – Don’t you know (English Version)
- Reykjavíkurdætur (Daughters of Reykjavík) – Turn This Around (English [Bilingual] Version)
- Stefán Óli – Ljósið (Icelandic Version)
- Sigga, Beta and Elín – Með Hækkandi Sól (Icelandic Version)

One special guest will be Tusse, who represented Sweden at Eurovision 2021.
The initial plan was to invite Go_A from Ukraine, but due to the complicated situation in Ukraine, they can’t attend

The Results
The results were determined in 2 rounds:

Round 1
After the 5 participants took the stage, the vote opened.
The results of this round were based on 50% jury voting and 50% public voting.
The international jury were:

- Ragnheiður Gröndal – Musician (Iceland)
- Tusse – Represented Sweden at Eurovision 2021
- Sóley Stefánsdóttir – Musician (Iceland)
- Barry Van Corneval – Organizer of Eurovision in Concert (The Netherlands)
- Stig Karlsen – Norway – Head of the Norwegian delegation at Eurovision
- Daði Freyr – Represented Iceland at Eurovision 2020 and 2021
- Heidi Välkkilä – Marketing Manager at Yle (Finland)
The 2 qualifiers are:
Reykjavíkurdætur (Daughters of Reykjavík) – Turn This Around
Sigga, Beta and Elín – Með Hækkandi Sól


Unfortunately, this means we have to say goodbye to 3 acts:
Katla – Þaðan Af
Amarosis – Don’t you know
Stefán Óli – Ljósið
Round 2
The vote was reopened (so the previous round doesn’t count).
This time, the results were determined by the public vote only:
The final results were announced:
- Sigga, Beta and Elín – 1st place
- Reykjavíkurdætur (Daughters of Reykjavík) – 2nd place
Therefore, Sigga, Beta and Elín will represent Iceland at Eurovision 2022.

Sigga, Beta and Elín will perform “Með Hækkandi Sól” at Eurovision 2022
Iceland will participate in the second half of semi-final 1 of Eurovision 2022 which will be held on the 10th of May 2022.
If the country qualifies, Iceland will perform in the grand final on the 14th of May 2022
