As we have reported on the 8th of October 2022, on the weekly “Around The Continent“, Austria will select internally for Eurovision 2023.
Austrian producer Eberhard Forcher has approached 15 Austrian musicians to take part in the selection. Auditions took part last weekend.
This means that there aren’t any open paths for submissions, but artists that have been marked by the Austrian broabcaster in advence.

However, the format of the internal selection was updated a little bit.
The candidates will be judged by a professional Austrian and international jury, alongside Eurovision fan clubs from different countries.
The results of these jury groups will determine the Austrian act for Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.
Some might see similarities between this format and the Swiss selection.
The last time Austria held a national selection was in 2016.
Lum!x and Pia Maria represented Austria at Eurovision 2022 with the song “Halo“.
They failed to qualify for the final, finishing in 15th place in semi-final 1
Would the change in the selection format be key for success?
