Itzhak Klepter (Kaveret Band, Eurovision 1974) Passed Away

Sad news coming from Israel this evening.
Itzhak Klepter, who was part of the Kaveret band, passed away at the of 72.

Kaveret represented Israel at Eurovision 1974 with the song “נתתי לה חיי” (phonetic: “Natatai La Khayay”) or in English “I gave her my life”.
Itzhak Klepter was one of the guitarists of the band

They finished in 7th place, getting points from Italy, The Netherlands, UK, Portugal, Sweden and Ireland.
They were the second representatives of Israel at Eurovision, following the debut of the country in 1973.
Kaveret band was active between 1973 and 1976, and reunited in several different occasions for tour, like in 1980, 1984, 1998, 2013.


In 1980, he put his efforts in solo career.
He has been considered one of the great guitarists and composers in Israel.
In addition, he is considered one of the Israeli rock music pioneers.

During his career, he released 5 solo albums, 6 additional albums as part of the Kaveret band and plenty of collaborations.

Itzhak Klepter passed away at the age of 72.
In recent years, he struggled with medical issues.
He left one son – the musician Uria Klepter.
