Luxembourg: Auditions for Eurovision 2024 Selection Commenced

As of the beginning of July 2023, we have reported that Luxembourg will select an artist and a song via a national selection.

This weekend, the first auditions took place. Around 100 singers performed in front of a jury panel.
These singers don’t yet have an original song to submit. However, they might be with songwriters at a later due.

Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s national preselection

  1. The televised national selection will be held on Saturday, the 27th of January 2024.
  2. The national selection will involve the public.
  3. Applications should be made via the Eurovision Luxembourg website
  4. There are 3 categories where applications can be sent:
    • Category 1 – Singers with songs to submit
    • Category 2 – Singers without a song to submit
    • Category 3 – Songwriters looking to collaborate with local singers.
  5. Applicants might even submit their candidacy even in more than 1 category
  6. Performers must be at least 16 years old on the day of the national final.
  7. Applicants must also hold Luxembourgish nationality or have lived in the country for 3 consecutive years or have a proven connection to the local culture.
  8. There are no restrictions regarding the language of the songs.
  9. Performers can submit no more than 3 songs (whoever the songwriters are).
  10. The deadline for Category 2 was Sunday, 16th of July, or the 1st of October 2023 for the rest of the categories.
  11. The professional committee will listen to the submitted songs and select some of them to participate in the televised show.

Luxembourg returns to the contest after a long break of 31 years.
The last time the country competed was in 1993.
Despite being one of the smallest countries, the country has already won 5 times in the contest: 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973, 1983.
