Apparently, Romania’s participation at Eurovision 2024 isn’t certain, with most probably skipping this year’s contest.
Based on the report, made by the Romanian news website libertatea, it seems that the Romanian broadcaster TVR faces some financial issues that might determine the country’s participation at Eurovision 2024.

Earlier this year, Romania took part at Eurovision 2023 with Theodor Andrei, performing the song “D.G.T” (Off and On). Romanian broadcaster TVR spent around 400,000 euros to cover the participation (this includes participation fees, staging and effects, accommodation of the delegation, flights, national selection etc.)
However, Romania achieved its worst result ever, ending with 0 points in semi-final 2.
Later on, Theodor Andrei expressed it dissatisfaction from the collaboration with the national broadcaster, starting with decisions made without him and ending with a very limited budget for Eurovision performance.

TVR’s communications department commented:
The subject of participation in Eurovision 2024 was not discussed at the level of SRTv management, which is why, for now, no decision has been made in this regard
The deadline for national broadcasters to confirm Eurovision 2024 participation is next Friday, the 15th of September 2023.
However, countries are allowed to withdraw their participation without any penalty by the 11th of October 2023.
The EBU usually releases the list of participating countries towards the end of October.
Theodor Andrei represented Romania at Eurovision 2023 with “D.G.T” (Off and On).
