The official confirmation deadline for Eurovision 2025 is just around the corner (15th of September 2024). However, for some countries it is still unknown whether Eurovision participation is in their plans
Based on Eurovoix‘s report, we learned that Slovenian broadcaster RTV SLO hasn’t finalized the decision regarding participation in Eurovision 2025.
The national broadcaster will announce plans for Eurovision 2025 only during October 2024
It is worth mentioning that broadcasters can withdraw their confirmation by the 11th of October without any financial penalty.
Uncertainty over Slovenia’s participation follows a sequence of events that occurred during Eurovision 2024. RTV SLO appealed to the EBU with several questions, among them: the format of voting, the disqualification of the Netherlands and the Slovenian public vote.
In case of participation, the selection method is still unknown.
In recent years, Slovenia has used a mixture of internal selection (2021, 2023, 2024) and “EMA” as national selection (2014 – 2020, 2022).
Raiven represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Veronika”.
She finished in 23rd place with 27 points
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
