Format
The ceremony’s presenters will be 2 Basel-born personalities: Jennifer Bosshard and Jan van Ditzhuijzen.
The ceremony will feature 2 parts. The first part will be the official host city handover from Malmö to Basel. Public figures representing the 2 cities will present in the ceremony.
The second part, possibly the most exciting, will be the semi-final allocation draw.
The EBU has split the participating countries into 5 pots:
- Since establishing 2 semi-finals in 2008 and due to voting patterns, the EBU and the reference group have decided to allocate countries with voting relations together, in the same pot.
- The 31 countries that participate in the semi-finals are allocated into 5 pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by the contest’s official televoting partner Digame.
- Each pot includes 6-7 countries.
- From each pot, half of the countries will be allocated in the first semi-final and the remaining countries will be allocated in the second semi-final.
- In addition, each semi-final participant will get an allocation to the first or second half of the show.
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th, and 17th of May 2025
