Cyprus Will Probably Select Internally For Eurovision 2024

A few days after Eurovision 2023 ended, Cyprus revealed its plans to organize a national selection for Eurovision 2024.
The initial plan was to create a collaboration between Cypriot broadcaster RIK and Greek label Panik Records for the aim of Eurovision 2024 selection.

Cypriot broadcaster RIK has even opened the submission window for “Fame Story” – a musical reality TV show with a known format of a star academy.

However, on the 29th of July 2023, we found out that not everyone was satisfied with the path Cyprus wanted to step on for its Eurovision 2024 journey.

Greek broadcaster ERT has contacted the EBU regarding the way Cyprus will choose its act for Eurovision 2024.
According to this report, the main complaint of ERT is that Cyprus will hold a national selection in a collaboration with Greek channel (Star Greece). In addition, the selection will be held in the territory of Greece, outside of Cyprus’ territory.
The Greek broadcaster wants the EBU to check the validity of such a decision. At this point, Cyprus had to revisit the format for Eurovision 2024 selection.

Thereafter, it was reported by local media that Cyprus might hold a national selection, where one artist will perform 3 songs in front of the public.
Now, a new chapter in the preparations of Cyprus fpr Eurovision 2024.
According to the Greek website EurovisionFun, Cyprus has changed plans for Eurovision 2024 oncae again.
Cypriot broadcaster RIK will probably select internally for Eurovision 2024. This included both the artist and the song.
The selection process is a joint effort between Cypriot broadcaster RIK and Greek label Panik Records.
In fact, it seems like Cyprus will be the first country to announce the artist for Eurovision 2024, when the announcement is expected to take place this summer.

Andrew Lambrou represented Cyprus at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Break a Broken Heart“.
He ended up in 12th place in the final, with a total of 126 points

The last time Cyprus chose a song and an artist via national selection was in 2015.
Back then, John Karayiannis won the national selection.

So far, the list of countries that have confirmed participation in Eurovision 2024 includes: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Israel, Moldova, Estonia, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, MaltaSerbiaSwitzerland, Azerbaijan, and Lithuania.To date, there hasn’t been any confirmation from Greece regarding Eurovision 2024.
Eurovision 2024 will be held in Malmö,Sweden.
The semi-final will be held on the 7th and 9th of May 2024, and the grand final will be held on the 11h of May 2024
