“The Looker 2023”: Eurovision Wish List – Chapter 12 (Czechia, Denmark, Iceland)

Welcome to our series of posts – The Looker” where we will share our wish list of artists participating in Eurovision.
This is the 3rd year in a row that we are running the project.
But before we start, let us remark that our recommendations will not necessarily come true (as for example some countries select their artists by reality shows)

This is the 12th post in the series and it will concentrate on 3 countries: Czechia, Denmark and Iceland.

#1. The Silver Spoons

The Silver Spoons is a Czech Indie rock band that was formed in 2013.
The line-up of the band includes:

  • Augustine Dunn – vocals, guitar,
  • Jan Janíček – bass guitar
  • Jaroslav Janda – guitar
  • Štěpán Bina – drums
  • Dimitrije Maksimovic – keyboards

In 2017, they released their debut album “Man in The Making”.
In 2018, they released the song “He’s Got My money Now“. They recorded the song in LA, with Czech producer Jonny Anděl and Danny Saber (who has worked with The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and U2). The song became a hit in Europe.
In 2022, they released their second album “Come and Get It

Silver Spoons suggest a kind of American radio-friendly indie rock that might be interesting to hear at Eurovision

#2. Aiko

Aiko was born in Moscow.
She was raised in Cezhia and spent the majority of her life there.
Now, she is based in the UK, where she works on her music.
In 2018, she released her debut album “Aiko“.
In 2020, she released her 2nd album “Expiration Date

Aiko creates a sorcerer pop that keeps you attached and engaged.
I believe she has the ability to attract both the jury and the public.

#1. EEE GEE

Emma Grankvist (better known as EEE GEE) is a Danish singer-songwriter.
In 2022, she released her debut album, “Winning”, which was followed by her first headlining performance at the sold-out Hotel Cecil in Copenhagen. Shortly afterward she had her first gig at Roskilde, the biggest festival in Scandinavia.
She was nominated for the “Music Moves Europe Awards 2023“.
In September 2023, she will release her 2nd album “She-Rex“.

EEE GEE creates and performs an alt-melcholic pop that describes the world from the introvert introvert people point of view. IT might work perfectly at Eurovision.

#2. Saveus

Martin Hoberg Hedegaard (better known as Saveus) is a 30 year-old Danish singer-songwriter and producer.
He rose to fame in 2008, when he won the first season of “X-Factor Denmark“.
In 2008, he relased his first album “Show The World”.
Between 2009 and 2014, he focused on his career as a producer and songwriter, mainly focusing on the K-Pop scene.
In 2015, he continues to work on his solo career while releasing the song “Levitate Me,” the song topped the local music charts.
IN 2016, he released the EP “Will Somebody Save Us?”
In 2018, he released his 2nd album “Neuro“.
In 2022, he released hisd 3rd album “Rainman“.

Saveus has everything to be Eurovision ready: His warm and soulful voice combines well into modern and complex melodies. In addition, he always delivers meaningful messages.

#1. Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band that formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. It comprises lead vocalist and guitarist Jón Þór “Jónsi” Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson.

So far, the band has released the following albums:

  • Von (1997)
  • Ágætis byrjun (1999)
  • Hlemmur (2002)
  • Untitled (2002)
  • Takk… (2005)
  • Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (2008)
  • Valtari (2012)
  • Kveikur (2013)

Sigur Rós suggest an ethernal sound. Every single song of them sounds like a soundtrack with a cinematic quality.
I believe they might conquer Europe with their magic.


#2. JFDR

Jófríður Ákadóttir (better known as JFDR) is a 29 year-old Icelandic singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist.
She is a founding member of the musical groups Samaris and Pascal Pinon.
She formed Pascal Pinon at the age of 14. The group was active between 2009 and 2016.
They have released 3 studio albums. One of the band members was Ásthildur (her twin sister).
Jófríður, Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir and Þórður Kári Steinþórsson formed Samaris in 2011.
The band want on a huge success, winning the Icelandic Músíktilraunir competition in 2011.
The band released an EP 2012 , and 4 albums between 2013 and 2016.
Since 2017, she focused on her solo career.
In 2017, she released her debut album “Brazil”.
In 2018, she released the EP “JFDR – White Sun Live. Part I“. The same year, she released the EP “Gravity“.
In 2020, she released the EP “Dream On“.
In 2020, she released the album “New Dreams”.
In 2023, she released the album “Museurm“.

JFDR is one of the leading artists in Iceland.
despite her considerably young age, she has also managed to do a lot and performed live with different musicians.
It looks like she has her own identity, and therefore it will be easy for her to create something epic for Eurovision.
