Estonia: “Eesti Laul 2024” Hosts Have Been Revealed

The duo, who will host “Eesti Laul 2024” has been announced by Estonian broadcaster ERR: Grete Kuld and Tõnis Niinemets.
They will host the “Eesti Laul” shows for the 3rd time, following the editions in 2021 and 2023.

Grete commented:

“The semi-final in Tartu will be awesome! We will bring a big stage, lots of cameras, 15 semi-finalists and definitely a long ladder so that Tõnis can get the high notes, because we also plan to take the stage with a little surprise.”

Tõnis Niinemets commeted:

“For me, Eesti Laul is like Christmas or my birthday. This time of the year I look forward to even more exciting than summer. And it’s especially nice that I can go to Tartu again this year!” 

Tõnis Niinemets was also one of the hosts of the “Eesti Laul 2019″ semi-finals, which have been held in Tartu.

“Eesti Laul 2024” – Known Details

  1. A professional jury committee consisting of 35 members will evaluate the submitted songs. They will shortlist 20 of them.
  2. This year, we will only have 2 shows only:
    • The Semi-Final will be held in Tartu on Saturday, the 20th of January 2024.
    • The Grand Final will be held in Talinn on Saturday, the 17th of February 2024
  3. A total of 20 songs will be shortlisted to participate in “Eesti Laul 2024″. 15 of them will compete in the semi-final, while additional 5 will automatically qualify for the final.
  4. In the semi-final, 15 songs will compete for 5 spots in the final. The semi-final results will be determined by a combination of national jury and public votes.
  5. In the final, 10 songs will compete. The results will be determined in 2 rounds:
    • Round 1 – Based on a 50% international jury and a 50% public vote. Top 3 songs will qualify for the super-final
    • Round 2 – Suprerfinal: The winner will be determined by 100% public vote.
  6. The list of 20 shortlisted artists will be revealed during November 2023.
  7. The “Eesti Laul 2024″ songs will be released on Friday, 8th of December 2023

“I am happy that there are many famous artists among the candidates for the competition, but also several newcomers are trying to get in front of a large audience.
The “Eesti Laul” Jury has a particularly responsible role this year, because five songs get a direct ticket to the finals. We have put together the largest jury in recent years, which has been asked to include the top of the pop music and classical fields, radio and TV producers with wide experience, composers, teachers, journalists and music enthusiasts. , who have a lot to show in their field”

Alika Milova represented Estonia at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Bridges“.
She ended up in 8th place (combined with the jury vote) with a total of 168 points:
