Despite all the rumors about boycott this year participation in the contest, The
Icelandic national broadcast RÚV approve they will take part in the song contest that will be held in Tel Aviv this May.
Moreover they already reveal their plans for the traditional national final “Söngvakeppnin” show.
This year instead of 12 we will have only 10 performances.
5 songs will compete in 2 semi finals shows schedule to February 9th and 16th, and the grand final that will crown the winner will held March 2nd in the city of Laugardalshöll. On that night the 2 winners from each semi final + a “wildcard” that will by chosen by the producers will try to win the golden ticket to represent Iceland in the upcoming Eurovision song contest.
A call for song submission is also made and open until October 22nd.
Iceland ranked last at the 1st semi final of Eurovision 2018. Ari Ólafsson – “Our Choice” was skipped by most countries scoring and achieve only 15 points in total.
