“The Looker 2023”: Eurovision Wish List – Chapter 11 (Moldova, Poland, Romania, Ukraine)

Welcome to our series of posts – The Looker” where we will share our wish list of artists participating in Eurovision.
This is the 3rd year in a row that we are running the project.
But before we start, let us remark that our recommendations will not necessarily come true (as for example some countries select their artists by reality shows)

This is the 11th post in the series and it will concentrate on 4 countries: Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine

#1. Dan Balan

Dan Balan is a 44 year-old Moldovan singer-songwriter.
In 1995, he formed the band Inferialis. They played together for 2 years.
In 1998, he reelased his debut song as a solo artist.
In 1998, he formed the band O Zone. The band started as a duo, and later on became a trio with a different line-up.
The band is well known for its worldwide hit “Dragostea Din Tei”

In 2006 they band disparted and Balan went on a solo career. some of his work was under the stage name Crazy Loop.
He has released 4 albums to date: “The Power of Shower” (2007), “Crazy Loop Mix (2009), “”Freedom Part 1” (2012), “Freedom Part 2” (2021).

Dan Balan is one of the most popular musicians in Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Russia.
He creates mainstream music that might work on the big stage of Eurovision

#2. Nicoleta Nuca

Nicoleta Nuca is a 29 year-old Moldovan singer.
In 2009, she won the golden prize of “Golden Wings” Festival in Chisinau, together with Boris Covali.
In 2014, she competed in “X Factor Romania”, where she ended up in 5th place.
In 2021 he participated in the show Bravo, you have style! Celebrities – season 7, as a competitor.

Nicoleta Nuca is an excellent vocalist who always puts a great effort into her songs.
It has been a while since we have received a touching song from Moldova

#1. Kaśka Sochacka

Kaśka Sochacka is a 33 year-old Polish singer-songwriter.
In 2010, she took part in the 3rd edition of “Got Talent” where she ended up as a finalist.
During her career, she performed alongside famous Polish artists such as Zbigniew Wodecki , Anna Szałapak , Joanna Słowińska and Franciszek Pieczka, Jan Nowicki, Barbara Krafftówna, Marta Stebnicka.
In 2017, she participated in the 7th edition of “Must Be the Music. Tylko muzyka“, where she reached the semi-finals.
In 2019, she released her first EP – “Wiśnia” (Eng: Cherry).
In 2021, she released her 2nd EP – “Ministory“.
IN 2021, she released her debut album – “Ciche dni” (Eng: Quite Days)

Kaśka Sochacka brings high-quality singer-songwriter’s songs.
The combination of folk pop, jazz and semi-melancholic pop in her songs makes her stand out.
She can create a moment that will speak to many people.

#2. LemON

LemOn is a Polish – Lemko – Ukrainian band that was formed in 2011.
The band’s name is a combination of the Lemko region “lem” (only) and the English “on” (turn on), loosely translated as “only turn on”
The current line-up is: Igor Herbut, Przemysław Świerk, Piotr Kołacz, Tomasz Świerk, and Tomasz Waldowski.
So far, the band has released 4 studio albums in the years 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017.
2 of those peaked at number 1st in the Polish charts.

LemON band proves that a non-mainstream music can converge to the main scene.
Their “underground” nature might appeal more than expected, and they will gain bonus points for performing in native language.

#1. IRAIDA

IRAIDA is a singer-songwriter from Romania.
She is a rising star who began her way in writing songs for established artists like Roxen, Inna, Elvana Gjata, Alexandra Stan, Karmen, Lariss, Ruby, Iuliana Beregoi, Andia and more.

She creates tender electropop music, flavoured with modern production and a bit of ethnic elements.


#2. Seredinschi

Sebastian Seredinschi is a Romanian singer-songwriter.
He splits his time between studying Nanotechnology engineering and making music.
In 2016, he participated in the 6th season of “The Voice of Romania”, where he was eliminated in the live shows.

Seredinschi creates RnB house music both in Romanian and English.
His modern pop vibe might suit Eurovision and take Romania to a better place.

#1. Volodymyr Dantes

Volodymyr Dantes is a 35 year-old Ukrainian singer, radio host and TV presenter.
In 2008, he formed the duo ДиО.фильм ы (composed of him and Vadim Olenik).
Together, they won the 2nd season of Ukrainian talent show Star Factory.
In 2010, they released the album “I’m already 20”. The duo disparted in 2015.
Between 2014 and 2018, he hosteed the culinary travel show “Food, I Love You” on the Friday channel.
Since October 11, 2015, he is one of the coaches of the children’s talent show “Little Giants”.
In 2019, he laucnched his solo career.
In 2021, he released his debut album “Твоя любимая музыка” (Eng: your Favorite Music).
In 2023, he released his ssecond album “Кити” (Eng: Kitty).

Volodymyr Dantes suggests a fusion of western music with Ukrainian language.
He is an experienced performer we can rely on.

#2. Tóнка (Tonka)

TONKA is a Ukrainian indie-pop music project created in 2018. Vocalist Olena Karas and music producer and keyboardist Yaroslav Tatarchenko are distinguished by European musical aesthetics, soulful lyrics, dynamic rhythms and strong vocals. The band has 5 mini-albums, 8 videos, nominations for the “Young Blood Jager Music Awards” and “Discovery of the Year Aprize” from Radio Aristocrats and a successful performance at the German Reeperbahn Showcase Festival in Hamburg.
They released 5 Eps, once a year in 2019-2023

Tóнка (Tonka) brings a brave and fresh new air to the Ukrainian music industry.
Having performed in several festivals in Europe, it is time for them to conquer the big stage in Europe.
